About English Department Courses

The English Department offers courses in literature, creative writing, film, folklore, linguistics, native American studies, and professional writing and editing.

Graduate classes are taught as seminars with about eighteen students. This format facilitates lively and engaged discussion as well as the concentrated attention typical of advanced study. Graduate courses are scheduled with the needs of working students in mind. In fall and spring semesters, classes meet once a week at 4:30 or 7:20.

Undergraduate classes are small to faciliate feedback on writing and active discussion.
