Deborah Kaplan is the author of Jane Austen among Women (Johns Hopkins UP, 1992) and articles on Austen and other women writers. She is working on a book on the performance history of Restoration comedies and has published "Representing the Nation: Restoration Comedies on the Early Twentieth-Century London Stage" in Theatre Survey 36:2 as well as "Learning 'to Speak the English Language': The Way of the World on the Twentieth Century American Stage" in Theatre Journal 49. Teaching interests include: British drama and performance, feminist theory and criticism, and pedagogy.Email:
