Devon Hodges

Professor

Devon Hodges teaches a diverse array of courses ranging from the literature of the early modern period to feminist theory and contemporary cultural studies. Her books include From Klein to Kristeva: Psychoanalytic Feminism and the Search for the "Good Enough" Mother (University of Michigan, 1992) written with co-author, Janice Doane; Nostalgia and Sexual Difference: The Resistance to Contemporary Feminism (Methuen, 1987) also written with Janice Doane; and Renaissance Fictions of Anatomy (University of Massachusetts, 1985). Her most recent book is Telling Incest: Narratives of Dangerous Remembering from Stein to Sapphire (University of Michigan Press, 2001). She is now at work on a book about Gertrude Stein. (She was educated at Reed College, the University of California at Berkeley, and SUNY Buffalo.)
