The English Department is home to nationally recognized undergraduate programs and nationally ranked graduate programs. We offer students the opportunity to learn from published and prize-winning faculty. We support learning experiences such as Fall for the Book and the Text and Community program.

Our Spring Speaker Series welcomes accomplished authors and alumni to present their works onstage.We are also the home of the Northern Virginia Writing Project, whose mission is to improve writing instruction, writing practice, and learning at all educational levels; to develop teacher leaders across the disciplines and elevate their professional standing; and to provide support for young writers and their families.
