What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is an online plagiarism detection tool. Turnitin accounts can be set up so faculty and staff members can submit papers themselves or so students can submit papers for a particular course and assignment.

Who can request a Turnitin account?

The University has purchased a site license that allows Mason faculty and staff to receive accounts.

How can a Turnitin account be requested?

Faculty need the username and password for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in order to set up a Turnitin account. Requests for this information should be emailed to Susan Campbell, the Turnitin Administrator for Mason at scampbel@gmu.edu by the Mason faculty or staff member.
