Section Information for Fall 2016
This course examines the idea of 'exile' in its political manifestations, especially in relation to the creative process. The course will foreground themes like language, alienation, belonging, culture and travel, and will attempt to define as well as problematize the concept of "home" in literature and in real life. Works of fiction and non-fiction will be used in the reading list--with special focus on books by American authors.
