Masters of Arts in English

Students who wish to pursue the MA in English may choose a concentration in literature, cultural studies, professional writing and editing, the teaching of writing and literature, or linguistics. For more information on these options, see the concentrations to the right.


Degree Requirements (Catalog Year 2008-2009)

See the university catalog for policies governing all master's degrees.

Students receiving a MA in English must successfully complete 30 credits in graduate English courses in one of the designated concentrations (see list to right).

Students must also demonstrate foreign language proficiency by course work equivalent to Mason's foreign language 210 or by passing a translation test administered by the Department of English.
