Please note: This certificate program is not certification to teach and does not lead to licensure in the the state or county. It is simply an 18 hour program with emphasis on Teaching English as a Second Language.
Students who do not wish to seek a full master’s degree may be interested in a TESL graduate certificate. MA students in the linguistics program can also earn the TESL certificate concurrently with their MA. Students who complete both programs must graduate with 33 credit hours, rather than 30.

Students pursuing this certificate must complete 18 credits of English graduate courses, earning a grade of B or better in each, distributed as follows:
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in course work presented on the certificate application.
