The Judaic Studies minor offers courses in Judaism, Jewish thought, and Jewish culture through the ages. The Judaic Studies minor recognizes that the Jews form a global community, and, thus, provides a global approach rather than a regional framework for exploring Judaism. This innovative approach encourages students to explore the historical role and contributions of Judaism beyond the Middle East and to appreciate the experiences that connect Jewish communities historically and in the present. To fulfill the requirements for the minor, students take a wide variety of courses from a range of programs, including English, Religion, History and Art History, Modern and Classical Languages, Philosophy, and Sociology.
See the university catalog for policies governing all minors.
Students pursuing this minor must complete 15 credits distributed as follows:
Special topics courses and independent studies courses, when relevant, may be used to fulfill elective credits for the minor with prior approval of the coordinator.
In accordance with university policy, at least 8 credits must be applied only to the minor and may not be used to fulfill requirements of the student’s major, concentration, or another minor.
Requirements may be different for earlier catalog years. See the University Catalog archives.
