Even if you're not an English major, the department's composition and introductory literature courses will help you to think more clearly and critically, to present your ideas more effectively, and to use and develop your imagination. These abilities are essential in our academic, work, and communal lives. We also hope that you'll discover how much fun, interesting, and even life-changing work in English can be. Maybe you'll take some more courses in the department--or become a major yourself.
