Section Information for Fall 2021
What does it mean to be an American in the 21st century? How do our families and communities shape our definitions and our experiences of life in America? How do age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status shape how and where we live? What role do online social and professional communities play? This course will explore these questions through the study of contemporary short fiction and creative nonfiction, with a focus on multicultural, multilingual, and first generation American writers.
