ENGH 309 - 002: Teen Cultre in Sociology & Lit

Students will read novels, watch films, and examine ethnographies from contemporary U.S. teen culture.  Team taught by Professor Best from Sociology and Professor Koch from English, the course will demonstrate how sociologists and literary scholars examine teen culture. The course is divided into units such as "Girl Flight," "Cliques and Status," and "Boundary Crossing." Possible films and readings include The Hate U Give; Mean Girls; Love, Simon; Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids; and Punished: Policing the Lives of Black and Latino Boys.
