This course offers an introduction to the interdisciplinary fields of feminist and queer animal studies. Topics and issues we will discuss include feminist debates about the relationship between women, animals, and environmental justice; the sexual politics of meat; black veganism; the connections between disability rights and animal liberation; post-humanist perspectives on gender, race and animal rights; queer and transgender animacies; and postcolonial and transnational feminist approaches to animal rights.
