Introduction to phonetic theory and phonetic representation, including articulatory, acoustic and perceptual characteristics of human speech. Students will learn and practice acoustic analysis, perceptual testing, production and transcription of speech sounds from the world’s languages. May not be repeated for credit.
Recommended Prerequisite: LING 520 or equivalent
Registration Restrictions:

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Junior Plus, Non-Degree or Senior Plus.

Students in a Non-Degree Undergraduate degree may not enroll.
