Rachel Purdy is a graduate teaching assistant in her second year of the MFA in Creative Writing Program, with a concentration in creative nonfiction. Rachel has worked with students as a tutor in George Mason University's Writing Center.
She received the 2018 Travel Research Award from the Alan Cheuse International Writers Center, which sent her to the Balkans to write about the connections between coffee, cafe society, and family this summer.
