Thomas Polk currently serves as Assistant Director of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program and teaches Composition in the English department. His current research interests focus on writing pedagogy, writing centers, affect/emotion studies, and failure. Recent presentations have discussed the role of failure in writing (center) pedagogy, non-writing faculty's perceptions and conceptions of writing pedagogy, and the impact of the classroom environment on learning to write. Prior to working at Mason, he coordinated the writing center at Bowie State University.
