William Miller has directed the MFA program since 1992 and incorporated the new BFA program into the department when it was created in 2012. He has been involved with Fall for the Book since its inception in 1999 and has served as executive director since 2001. His publication credits include assisting Jack Censer with a study of the media coverage of the Washington sniper event (On the Trail of the D.C. Sniper: Fear and the Media, University of Virginia Press, 2010), and countless journalism publications during a 16-year career with newspapers. He regularly teaches undergraduate creative writing courses as well as the graduate course in document design, and he also teaches general-education literature and composition courses. He writes fiction and nonfiction.
