What work are you doing now?

I am currently Associate Dean for University Life, here at Mason. University Life is committed to student growth and success in everything students do. University Life provides services and resources to help students succeed and offers activities that instill a sense of belonging and Mason pride.

What do you like about it?

I enjoy working with so many talented educators, whose primary goal is to serve students. Within University Life there are so many resources for students to really engage and develop while students at Mason.

How did your degree in the college prepare you to do this work?

My degree did not directly prepare me for this position, but many of the lessons I learned from coursework matured my thinking. The professors and coursework exposed me to a literary world that challenged me and help me discover who I was as a person. It intimately introduced me to James Baldwin and other authors who helped me see the world, my world, in a larger view.

What advice would you give current students about developing their careers?

I would tell current students, listen the the wisdom around you. Slow down and spend time with your professors and listen. Search for the job that you can do effortlessly, that you will love, and the rewards will follow.
