ENGH 319 - 001: Film and Video Forms
This new course looks at how movies and TV tell stories, true and less true. We'll explore the intersections and overlaps among fiction, documentary, and journalism with an eye to how visual compositions and editing designs shape narrative and theme, as well as story's effects on form. We'll pay special attention to how truths are constructed, how lies become truths. Films and TV shows may include Bombay Beach, Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer, The Colbert Report, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Fringe, Haywire, Miss Bala, Off Label, Paranormal Activity 3, Person of Interest, and Tabloid.
