Matt Murphy, 1997
Matt graduated in 1997 with a BA in English. Fast forward 15 years, and his official job title is forestry technician for the Alaska Region Forest Service. He spends a good part of each year serving as a snow ranger and predicting avalanches at the Chugach National Forest in Alaska.
For a heroic rescue, Matt was named the Alaska Forest Service Employee of the Year and received an emergency response award from the secretary of agriculture.
Matt's accomplishments were the subject of a story in the Mason University News.
