Laura Walker, 2012

Laura Walker
Laura has made challenging decisions for her academic career at Mason. She is a major in English with a concentration in poetry and also pursuing two demanding minors -- in secondary education English and in linguistics. She began her Mason career in the Honors College and continues as a student in the honors program in the English major.

She has furthered her knowledge by taking non credit Chinese language classes through Mason's Confucius Institute.

Laura has given back to the community in numerous ways. She was instrumental in the revitalization of the English Undergraduate Society. She initiated the society's Film Club and organized screenings of films based on literary adaptations. In addition to the English Undergraduate Society, she is a member of the Mason linguistics club and the Economics Society Discussion group.

Laura is interested in teaching English as a second language, especially in China. She received the Dean’s Challenge Scholarship for 2011-2012.
