Unfinished Business: Mason Celebrates Its First 50 Year Faculty Member

As Mason's first 50-year faculty member, professor Don Gallehr has had a front row seat to the university's evolution from a local northern Virginia school to the international institution of learning that it currently is and there are few better equipped to appreciate the transformation. Professor Gallehr has spent his tenure at the university studying expanded perspectives on learning, eager to add the pedagogical canon.

Not content to simply study intellectual growth, he lives it. He participates in the homework that he assigns his students continuing to learn more about writing each year with each cohort of students he teaches. Also, after contributing to many articles throughout his career, he has also written a book published in 2014 further illustrating his desire to pick up new challenges as time passes. Much like Mason itself, the only constant in Gallehr's life is his drive to grow and approach each day focused ever on the future.
