CCCC Grant Leads to Hybrid Learning Website

CCCC Grant Leads to Hybrid Learning Website

A team of composition faculty at Mason was awarded the CCCC Research Initiative Grant for a project focused on investigating student perceptions and experiences in hybrid courses, and as a result of that grant, the team has debuted a website with resources and evidence-based materials that support faculty who design and teach hybrid courses.

Team members who are part of the grant include: Kerry Folan, Ariel Goldenthal, Sheri Nichole Rain, Brian Fitzpatrick, Lourdes Fernandez, and Courtney Adams Wooten.

The project and the website continue to be a work in progress, Fernandez stresses, explaining that "the website will continue to expand as our study moves forward, growing based on new research."

The grant grew out of a task force that developed a research study focused on faculty perceptions of hybrid courses, which has resulted in several conference presentations, several forthcoming journal publications, composition program workshops, and the development of hybrid teaching resources. Original task force members, who were essential to the work, also include Jessie Matthews and Brandon Biller.

The award ceremony took place March 11, 2022, during the CCCCs annual conference.
