Three-time English alum Jessica McCaughey—MA English '05, MFA '11, and PhD Writing and Rhetoric ’22—has a new book coming out from Routledge end of September 2026: Communicating Across Careers: Writing Transfer and the Experiences that Shape a Professional Life.
Drawing from interviews with professionals across fields who have made a major professional shift—including a Marine-turned-pastor, a television producer-turned-school librarian, and a record label manager-turned-realtor—Communicating Across Careers: Writing Transfer and the Experiences that Shape a Professional Life offers new insights about professional writing experiences and workplace writing transfer during moments of career change.
McCaughey is now an Associate Professor of Writing at The George Washington University.
