Dr. Skinnell is best known for his book Faking the News: What Rhetoric Can Teach Us About Donald J. Trump (Imprint Academic 2018). He is an expert in political rhetoric and popular discourse, studying how people argue about politics in public. Dr. Skinnell has published six books and more than 100 essays, articles, and reviews about rhetoric, politics, and higher education. His writing has appeared in a variety of national and international outlets, including The Washington Post, Salon, and Newsweek. He also regularly appears in local and national media outlets to discuss political rhetoric in the news.
