Do you write fantasy? Do you want to write fantasy? Do you want to meet people who write fantasy? Join Matt Magelssen-Green for a workshop-in-a-can where you can do all the things! We’ll combine an overview of the WIDE genre of fantasy with getting deep in the weeds on something that you are working on.
October 15th and 22nd, from 12pm – 2pm. Bring lunch.
To reserve a space (and space is limited to 11 people!), I need you to send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a submission to workshop on by October 11th at 11:59pm. The submission must adhere to the following guidelines:
IF YOUR PIECE IS 12,000 WORDS OR UNDER: Just submit it.
IF YOUR PIECE IS OVER 12,000 WORDS OR YOU PLAN THAT IT WILL BE: I want an outline of the larger piece + a meaningful scene for review. Meaningful scene should not be over 12,000 words. Also, if you’re writing a scene that lasts for the equivalent of three chapters in a doorstopper book, maybe we might want to talk about that….
Eligibility is on a first-come, first served basis. Upon successful submission I’ll send you where we’re meeting (it’s on campus in Fairfax). If this is popular I plan to do it every semester, and if that happens I’ll give priority in future semesters to people who submitted but didn’t get in the first go around.
Consider your submission a commitment to attend both sessions. If something comes up, I do ask that you do me the courtesy of letting me know ahead of time.
