Writing center studies, graduate student professionalization, empathy
Courtney Massie joined Mason in January 2017 as Assistant Director of the Writing Center. She recently completed her PhD in English at The University of Texas at Austin, where she worked in the University Writing Center as a writing consultant and administrator. Her current research focuses on how writing center work affects tutors' own writing processes, mindsets, and writerly identities. She is also developing a project that explores writing centers' impact on graduate student professionalization and employment both within and beyond the academy.
