Cheyenne Rae Paterson

Graduate Teaching Assistant

In 2022, Cheyenne graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Strategic Communications. In 2024, she obtained a Master of Arts in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College, a degree she pursued while working as an Editorial Coordinator at Harvard Business Publishing. While at Emerson College, Cheyenne had the privilege of serving as an Editorial Assistant to Kim Dana Kupperman, series editor of the Best American Essay series. Cheyenne was pushed to pivot from the publishing industry and focus on her own writing by Emerson College's devout and incredible Creative Writing faculty (Jerald Walker, Alden Jones, and Bill Beuttler). It is because of these great minds that she is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, concentrating in nonfiction. Cheyenne specializes in writing about domesticity, love, and girlhood. Her favorite writers are J. Courtney Sullivan, Sally Rooney, and Ann Patchett. Outside of writing, she enjoys cooking/baking for others, being active, getting ice cream (year-round), and attending church on Sundays. Cheyenne is a proud Boston native and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
