Mahmuda Sharmin is a Faculty and Multilingual Specialist at the George Mason University Writing Center. She received her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Memphis and holds M.A. degrees in TESOL and Language and Literature. She has more than ten years of experience teaching and working in higher education. Before joining George Mason University, she served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of TESOL at West Virginia University and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Emory University. Her research interests include multilingual writing, second language writing, feedback, writing pedagogy, translanguaging, and emerging language technologies. She has presented her research at conferences including AAAL and TESOL. At the Writing Center, she works with multilingual writers and coordinates programs that support students’ academic writing and language development.
