Albert J. DeFazio, III, received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1992. His teaching interests include Modernism, composition, and Shakespeare. He has served as co-editor or associate editor on volumes 1-2 and 4-5 of The Letters of Ernest Hemingway (Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 2011-2020), has edited Dear Papa . . . Dear Hotch: The Correspondence of Ernest Hemingway and A. E. Hotchner (2005) and has authored The Sun Also Rises: Literary Masterpieces (2001). Since 1988, he has published more than 50 bibliographies and essays in The Hemingway Review, The F. Scott Fitzgerald Review, and American Literary Scholarship, and has contributed chapters to Approaches to Teaching Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, A Historical Guide to F. Scott Fitzgerald, Hemingway in Context, Hemingway’s Education, A Re-examination, and Hemingway, Cuba, and the Cuban Works
In 2024, he received the Online Teaching Excellence Award.
