Elena Macdonald (she/they) is a first-year MFA candidate concentrating in nonfiction. They graduated with a BFA in Creative Writing at GMU in December 2021. Some of her favorite writers are Carmen Maria Machado, Roxane Gay, Leslie Jamison, and Melissa Febos. Elena enjoys exploring identity, queerness, family, and more in their own work. They read for Phoebe and So to Speak, both of Mason’s MFA-run journals.
Elena is excited to be back at Mason, and she is excited to work with the Northern Virginia Writing Project.
